LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – After tragedies, our community comes together. The Euclid Avenue Kroger will be hosting a cookout fundraiser to help the family of a 4-year-old killed in an alleged drunk driving accident.

The #BBN4Marco fundraiser will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on September 29 in the parking lot of the store.

There will be burgers, hot dogs, baked goods and beverages. The money will go to the family of Marco Shemwell who was killed after being struck by an alleged drunk driver on Cooper Avenue during the Murray State game.

He was buried last week. He was honored as a ‘superhero’ at his funeral after his organs were donated.

The football team and coaching staff served as honorary pallbearers at Marco’s funeral.
