LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– A series of horse deaths has sparked an investigation at Churchill Downs in Louisville.

From Sept. 20 to Sept. 23, four horses suffered deadly injuries in four separate races.

The equine medical director for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission says necropsies have been ordered for all the horses and findings should be complete within two weeks.

The director says four deaths in four days is highly unusual.

An official inspected the dirt track Monday and found no problems.
