SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A local university was placed on lockdown overnight after two calls concerning suspicious individuals.

Police say the first call came in late Wednesday night, reporting two suspicious men in the Scott County Museum parking lot. When officers arrived, the suspects began walking away and then took off running.

Officials with Georgetown College say they decided to put the university on a brief lockdown in case the suspect ran onto campus.

Officers caught one suspect and found that he had stolen property on him. The second suspect hasn’t been caught, but he has been identified.

The suspects were not armed and were stealing items from cars.

The second call came in around 1:54 a.m. concerning a suspicious person looking into a car in the vicinity of campus on Clayton Avenue–well after the lockdown was lifted.

There was a foot pursuit shortly after.

Neither incident made it onto campus.

Police say they increased patrols in that area “to be more visible” since the random attack Sunday.
