LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Kentucky Utilities says that on an average week, they’ll get around three or four calls from customers saying that someone attempted to scam them posing as KU. On Thursday, they received more than 30 reports of this.
In the call, the scammers pose as Kentucky Utilities and are able to mimic their 1-800-981-0600 number so it looks like KU is calling you.
KU says that they have had one report of a victim scammed for nearly $800 in the Danville area.
Kentucky Utilities says that they will never call customers to ask for payment.
