GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Deputy injured in a shootout with a robbery suspect took to social media to thank everyone for their support and prayers.

Deputy Jaime Morales was shot late Sept. 11 in a gunfight with a serial bank robbery suspect at a rest stop off of Interstate 75. Morales was responding with federal agents to the report of a suspicious vehicle.

The vehicle was being driven by Edward Reynolds, 57, of Sarasota, Fla.  The FBI says Reynolds was wanted on a warrant for the robbery of a BB&T bank.  Reynolds was killed in the shootout.

The Scott County Sheriff says Morales is paralyzed over 90% of his body.

The community has rallied around Morales in his hour of need and after weeks of silence, Deputy Morales posted his appreciation on his Facebook page.
