Lexington Man Arrested After Complaint That Children Smelled Of Marijuana

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A complaint that two small children came to school reeking of marijuana resulted in the arrest of a Lexington man.

The complaint was filed after the two children, ages 6 and 7, came to school with backpacks that smelled strongly of raw marijuana. A Lexington police officer responded to the home and arrested Daquan Jamar Smith after executing a search warrant.

According to the arrest citation, officers discovered 3.2 pounds of marijuana, $15,499 and a rifle. They also found drug paraphernalia inside the residence.

Smith was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in marijuana.
