PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Malpica family had an unwanted dinner guest Wednesday night, and they captured its visit on camera.

“I get notifications on my phone if something comes in front of the camera, and I’ll check it every once in a while, and usually a bug will trip it or something,” said Carmelo Malpica.

On Thursday when they saw the mess outside, they knew it wasn’t a bug, or even the work of their cats.

They checked the video.

“On one video, you can see him eating the cat food and then he climbed down and came back up by the steps and then he just jumped right up,” said Jessica Smith.

The bear ate their cat food and dumped out their trash can.

“We graduated from possums, to raccoons, to a bear,” said Malpica.

So they’ve decided to make some changes to their daily routines, hoping this unwanted dinner guest will stay in his neck of the woods. They’ll be putting the trash in the back and feeding their cats during the day.
