LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Lexington area was hit hard Thursday night by heavy rainfall, causing flooding throughout the city.
A flash flood warning was in effect until 2:15 a.m. Friday morning.
The area saw more than three inches of rain in six hours, making Thursday the second wettest October day recorded.
The bulk of that rain happened in three hours.
First responders had to perform several vehicle rescues throughout the night, mostly around UK’s campus. Flooding was especially bad in the area of Andover and Cooper Drive.
The southern and western parts of the county saw the bulk of the flooding, including by Blue Grass Airport in the Versailles Road area.
We’re out on Andover and Cooper Drive in Lexington this morning where storm reports tell us there was significant flooding last night. As you can see, there’s still standing water and debris on the road. @LEX18News pic.twitter.com/u8zMkgOCDZ
