Laurel Co. Man Held After Police Chase

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Laurel County man is behind bars after plice say he led them on a chase Friday afternoon.

Authorities say 26-year-old Freddie Scalf Jr. of East Bernstadt sped away from a deputy who tried to pull him over.

The chase reached speeds of more that 75 m.p.h. on winding back roads, police said.

It ended when the pickup truck Scalf was driving went off the road and became stuck in a ditch.

Scalf is charged with driving under the influence, fleeing police, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations.
