Crime Stoppers: Police Looking To ID Man In Trailer Heist

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police are seeking help identifying a man they say hitched a box trailer to his truck and took off outside of Macy’s on Nicholasville Road.

The man made off with the box trailer and approximately $50,000 in tools that were stored inside.

Police think that the thief must have known that the store is undergoing a renovation. They also think he knew the value in being able to sell a box truck.

“They can sell those to just about anyone on the street who can park it behind his house. He might need it for construction, or moving materials, or just wants to have an extra one laying around. Oftentimes, we’ll find these on social media sites like Facebook marketplace or ‘Offer Up,'” said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

Thomas said that this is a Class C felony.
