Police: Man Charged After Dragging Dog Behind Vehicle

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (LEX 18) – Police in Leitchfield charged a man after receiving a report of a vehicle that was dragging a dog on a chain behind it.

Officers made contact with the vehicle at a residence and found the dog with injuries on all four paws and its belly.

Upon locating the injured animal, LPD officers contacted Leitchfield Animal Control Officers to respond to the scene to care for the dog.   The dog was seized and transported to an after-hours emergency veterinarian where the dog was treated and transferred to a foster facility for extended care.

Charles J. Weedman, 50, Leitchfield,  was charged with Cruelty to Animals 2nd Degree.  He is scheduled to appear in Grayson County District Court on 10-25-2018 to answer to the charge.

The dog, called Khaleesi, is currently recovering with round the clock care. She is not available for adoption.
