UPDATE: KSP Says Homeowner Mistakenly Shot Owensboro Officer During Investigation

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) — Kentucky State Police said a homeowner shot an Owensboro officer Wednesday morning after mistaking him for a suspicious person.

WFIE reports here that he shooting occurred before 6 a.m. on Hathaway Street.

KSP says the Owensboro Police Department officer, who has not been identified, was shot while investigating a report of a suspicious person.

Officials said the officer was transported to Owensboro Heath, where he was undergoing surgery. His current condition was not immediately disclosed.

KSP says the homeowner was being questioned by police.
