JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a reward being offered for information in the shooting of a Thoroughbred has been increased again.

The reward that was recently $18,500 was increased after a $5,000 donation from the National Humane Society.

The shooting happened late Sept. 27 at a farm on Tates Creek Road. The horse was not found until Friday morning. Its injuries were so severe, that the call was made to euthanize the animal, according to Lt. Anthony Purcell with the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say multiple shell casings were found at the scene.

The sheriff’s office says the reward is being put up by Keeneland, Fasig-Tipton, Hagyard Equine Medical Center, Taylor Made and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association.

The reward seeks information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved in the shooting of the colt.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call the Jessamine County Sheriffs Office at 859-885-4139.
