LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX18) – The woman who was killed in an accident on Winchester Road Thursday morning, was pregnant.

Kayla McCoy’s family says McCoy was in her 31st week and was excited about the arrival of her baby girl. At 29 years old, McCoy had overcome so much.

“She was on her way to drug court and doing the things she was supposed to do. And now she’s gone,” Rhonda Hamm, McCoy’s aunt said.

Just when her life had started to turn around, it was taken from her when the car she was in collided with an SUV on Winchester Road. McCoy’s boyfriend, the baby’s father, was driving.

“She was just well rounded with her words. She’s a good girl and she always gave that shoulder to cry on. She had a lot of good friends,” Hamm said.

Hamm and other relatives were planning a shower for the baby girl who McCoy decided to name Paizley.

“She was so excited. She had planned it all. She just wanted a magical baby shower, that’s what she called it,” Hamm said.

The family has made a GoFundMe page, to raise money to bury McCoy and Paizley together.
