RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) – President Donald Trump took to the stage at EKU’s Alumni Coliseum to voice his support for Congressman Andy Barr.

The president walked out to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” and addressed the crowd with a jubilant “Hello, Kentucky.”

“We love Kentucky. Greatest horses in the world and plenty of other things,” said the President.

He addressed current events including the release of Pastor Andrew Brunson from Turkey and Hurricane Michael. However, the reason behind the president’s visit to the Bluegrass is the contentious Kentucky 6th Congressional District race between Congressman Andy Barr and Amy McGrath.

As Barr took the stage, he thanked President Trump for ending “the war on coal.”

President Trump also took a moment to criticize the media, leading to a chorus of boos for the camera crews in the back.
