LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A false rumor that a student made threats against Beaumont Middle School has been causing undue worry among some families, Fayette County Schools officials said Monday.

According to an email sent to parents and guardians, officials said the “completely false rumor” was being shared person to person as well as on social media.

“We have fully investigated this situation because we take any and all reports of potential threats against our students, staff and campus seriously,” officials said in the statement. “We have met with the family of the student involved and are confident that there is absolutely no substance to the rumor.”

The statement was signed by Beaumont Middle principal Denis Beall and Fayette County Schools spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall.

Beall says he personally investigated the case, along with Fayette County Public Schools Police Department.

Anyone with questions about the issue can call Beall at 859-381-3094.
