LONDON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man was arrested after a missing Michigan girl was found in his semi-truck during a traffic stop in Laurel County.

On Monday, around 6:54 p.m., KSP received a call about a 14-year-old missing girl from Michigan. They say the girl was being transported in a semi truck driven by 57-year-old Robert Phillips, of Michigan.

A KSP trooper saw the semi on I-75 southbound near the 35 mile marker.  Trooper Jeremy Elliotte then initiated a traffic stop at the Commercial Vehicle Weigh Station.

The girl was located inside the semi-truck unharmed.

Phillips was arrested and charged with Unlawful Transactions with a Minor and Possession of Marijuana. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

According to the arrest report, the girl told a trooper that Phillips, “rolled up a joint for her to smoke.”

During his video arraignment Wednesday, the judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and set his bond at $25,000 cash.
