LONDON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man was arrested after a missing Michigan girl was found in his semi-truck during a traffic stop in Laurel County.
On Monday, around 6:54 p.m., KSP received a call about a 14-year-old missing girl from Michigan. They say the girl was being transported in a semi truck driven by 57-year-old Robert Phillips, of Michigan.
A KSP trooper saw the semi on I-75 southbound near the 35 mile marker. Trooper Jeremy Elliotte then initiated a traffic stop at the Commercial Vehicle Weigh Station.
The girl was located inside the semi-truck unharmed.
Phillips was arrested and charged with Unlawful Transactions with a Minor and Possession of Marijuana. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
According to the arrest report, the girl told a trooper that Phillips, “rolled up a joint for her to smoke.”
During his video arraignment Wednesday, the judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and set his bond at $25,000 cash.
