LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Officials with the Lexington Fayette County Detention Center say a man in their custody died, apparently from natural causes.

According to the jail, 62-year-old Larry Richard Young was transported to the hospital by Lexington Fire Department officials after determining he needed medical attention.

Young was pronounced dead at the hospital about 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15.

Young was in jail on a failure to appear charge.

Earlier Wednesday, the Fayette County Coroner issued a call seeking next of kin. Young’s family have since been notified.

Lexington Police and the Fayette County Coroner’s Office are investigating the cause and manner of his death.

Such an investigation is normal in the case of an in-custody death. The jail will conduct an internal investigation, which is also routine.
