LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– An after-school program at Mill Creek Elementary School was put on lockdown after a man with a gun was spotted in the area Thursday.

The Fayette County School System tells LEX 18 that students in the program were on the playground when they spotted the man. The students were then moved into the school, which was placed on lockdown.

Lexington Police have cleared the scene.

Superintendent Manny Caulk wanted parents to know this is one of the reasons why they want to include officers at every school.
