Harrodsburg Police: Man Pointed Loaded Gun, Fought Officers

HARRODSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man is facing multiple charges after Harrodsburg police said they has to use a Taser and subdue him Sunday after he allegedly pointed a loaded gun at someone.

Authorities said 51-year-old Bobby Ray Payne Jr. was arrested Sunday along Lexington Road after a struggle with police.

Police said officers were called out to a report of an intoxicated man who had allegedly pointed a gun at female.

According to police, responding officers confronted Payne and ordered him to show his hands and get on the ground.

Authorities said Payne refused to comply with the commands and reached for his pocket.

At that point, police said, an officer hit Payne with his Taser, and Payne was subdued and arrested after a brief struggle. Police said they found a loaded gun in the pocket into which Payne had been reaching.

Payne was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, menacing, obstruction-interference with an officer, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon.

Payne was being held in the Boyle County Detention Center.
