LYON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A woman and infant are dead following a house fire in Kuttawa.

It happened around 6:54 a.m. Monday on Stephens Road.

Kentucky State Police say a 27-year-old male in the residence was able to get a 2-year-old female out of home, but the fire was too intense for him to re-enter.

The male was transported to a local hospital, and then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for his injuries.

The 2-year-old was treated on the scene by EMS and released to her grandfather.

A 29-year-old female and an approximately 9-month-old male, were not able to escape the residence.

An autopsy will be scheduled for the female and infant to determine cause of death.

Preliminary investigation indicates the fire originated in the living room.

The Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office and KSP investigators are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
