Man Charged With Wanton Endangerment Following Fayette Mall Incident

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Police have charged a 26-year-old man in connection to an incident outside of Fayette Mall.

Police were dispatched to a call of shots fired shortly after 7 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the mall.

Witnesses told officers that two individuals in a physical altercation were fighting over a handgun when a shot was fired.

A bystander, an off-duty corrections officer, was able to intervene and secure the firearm. One of the men in the fight sustained a minor injury to his hand and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The man arrested at the scene has been identified as 26-year-old Kristopher James.

James has been charged with drug-related offenses and three counts of wanton endangerment.
