(LEX 18)–Makenzie Thomas is headed to the next round of NBC’s ‘The Voice’.

The Fleming County native impressed Coach Jennifer Hudson.

“Overwhelming is such a good word to describe it because I’m not used to being the center of attention,” she said.

Thomas said she’s received an outpouring of support from friends and family, even people she has never met.

“I want them to know that I appreciate the support. It’s been crazy,” she told LEX 18.

Thomas started singing in church at the age of two. Her ultimate goal is to record a gospel album. She said her time with Hudson is helping her get there.

“Jennifer, she’s really worked at bringing me out of my shell and being more comfortable on stage,” said Thomas.

She said she is booked to sing at all sorts of places.

You can follow her journey on LEX 18 Monday and Tuesday nights.
