LEXINGTON, Ky.– Fans on their way to Friday’s UK-Transylvania game or Saturday’s Chris Stapleton concert in Rupp Arena need to be aware of several ongoing construction projects downtown.

Travel is slow on High Street near its intersection with South Broadway because of construction there. The Jefferson Street Bridge, which runs between W. Main Street and W. High Street, is closed for demolition. Motorists will be able to use a small portion of the bridge to drive from High Street onto Manchester Street.

In addition, Midland Avenue is down to one outbound lane and one inbound lane because of sewer construction work. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the downtown area and to factor in extra travel time.

According to Bill Owen, President and CEO of Lexington Center, “People should plan to arrive early and allow extra time to find a parking spot.  Parking is available at the Rupp lot on High Street and Manchester St./West Main St.”  Paid Parking ($20 a car) will be in effect.
