UK Police: Man Initiated Chase, Struck Cruiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly led police on a chase and struck a cruiser.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. in the area of Tates Creek Road and Alumni Drive.

According to an arrest citation, 33-year-old Carlos Adiel was swerving and running vehicles off the roadway when officers attempted to pull him over.

That’s when Adiel reportedly cross over the median and drove the wrong way down the road, hitting an officer head-on.

Police continued to chase him and were able to block his way, ending the chase.

They found empty alcohol containers in Adiel’s vehicle. He admitted to police he had a beer before driving.

Adiel is facing numerous charges, including reckless driving, DUI, and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
