Scott County Baseball Coach Diagnosed With West Nile Virus

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Scott County baseball community is coming together after their head coach was diagnosed with West Nile virus.

According to their Twitter account, Scott Willard has been diagnosed with the virus the CDC says is mainly transmitted from mosquitoes.

Willard has been sedated and is being given anti-anxiety medication to keep his blood pressure down.

School officials also say the coach is on a ventilator for now.

Willard is also an assistant coach of the football team.
