LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police are asking for the public’s help after a mugging reported Saturday evening on the city’s southeast side.

Police say a man was walking along Woodhill Drive near New Circle Road around 9:15 p.m. when he was approached by a man who stabbed the man in the elbow.

The attacker then stole the man’s wallet and cellphone.

The incident was not reported until two hours later, when the man went to an emergency room to treat his injured elbow.

Police described the assailant only as a heavyset black man.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crime to call police.
