HARRODSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Harrodsburg police officer shot a man early Sunday morning during a confrontation inside a home on Bacon Court, officials said.

Kentucky State Police say 32-year-old John M. Peach is facing charges of attempted murder of an officer and fourth-degree domestic violence in the case.

Authorities say the officer was called out around 3 a.m. to investigate a domestic dispute at the residence.

After learning more people were inside the home, officials say, the officer entered the home in an effort to secure their safety.

That’s when, according to police, Peach confronted the officer while holding a gun.

Authorities say Peach was injured in the incident. Police said he was taken to Ephraim McDowell Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Peach was being held in Boyle County Jail, police said.
