RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) -A student is facing charges after a gun was found on school property.
According to Richmond Police, the gun was found in the trunk of a vehicle at Madison Central High School.
School Resource Officers and other Madison Central High School staff members were investigating drug activity on campus. They had a suspicion about a car in the parking lot.
When they looked through the car, an unloaded handgun was found. There was no ammunition in the car or on the student.
The handgun had been previously reported as stolen.
The student is charged with Receiving a Stolen Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun on School Property.
There was no threat made and police say there is no reason to believe anyone at the school was in danger.
