Ronnie Bastin, Gorton’s challenger, is the former chief of police who worked alongside Gray for years. In a statement released on his website, he called Gorton a “career politician who is beholden to the political insiders at city hall.”
Gorton also worked alongside Gray as a councilmember.
The election is in two weeks.
Thus far, Bastin has been endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police. Both Gorton and Bastin received recommendations from the Committee for Fairness and Individual Rights, and the KY 120 Strong organization, among others.
