SOMERSET, Ky. (LEX 18) – Construction is progressing on the widening of Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County and with that comes traffic shifts.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is alerting drivers that a lane shift will start Saturday night, Nov. 3, affecting southbound I-75 traffic.
Lanes will be shifted from the current driving lanes onto the two inside lanes between mile points 64.5 to 59.
Motorists are advised to pay close attention to signage and are reminded that speed limits are currently reduced along I-75 to 55 mph.
The date of the traffic shift may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays.
The $80.9 million project, which began earlier this year, will widen the section of I-75 at mile points 64.5 to 55.7 in both directions from four lanes to six lanes. L-M Asphalt Partners LTC., d/b/a ATS Construction, of Lexington was awarded the contract and has an anticipated completion date for October 2020.
