LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington man is in jail after being accused of credit card fraud.

According to police, the transaction happened last January at the University Inn on South Limestone. Police say a man rented two rooms using a fake credit card. Hotel staff then contacted officers to have the man and his friends removed.

When they got there they tried to make contact with 27-year-old Dimitri Wolfe, the man who bought the rooms.
but Wolfe refused to let them in.

Police then went around to the back of the building and found Wolfe hiding in a car with another man. According to his arrest citation, Wolfe took off running.

Police eventually caught Wolfe, but later released him because they didn’t believe they had any charges on him at the time.

After Wolfe was released, officials began searching the rooms where they found several gift cards, a laptop and multiple game consoles, all allegedly purchased with stolen credit card information.

Wolfe was transferred Monday to the Fayette County Detention Center from St. Clair County Detention Center in Port Huron, Michigan.

He is facing numerous charges.
