WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Winchester man has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge after police say he watched his mother commit suicide, failed to call emergency services and lived with her corpse in an apartment for five days.

Jeffrey T. Wisecup

Authorities arrested 27-year-old Jeffrey T. Wisecup on Friday following an investigation.

According to the arrest citation, police responding to an apartment in the 200 block of Oxford Drive for a death investigation found a woman dead in a bedroom.

Police executed a search warrant of the residence and took Wisecup into custody.

Authorities said Wisecup “stated he and his mother wanted to commit suicide” and that he watched her “inject herself with many insulin pens and swallow pills.”

Police say this took place the night of Oct. 21 or early Oct. 22.

Authorities say Wisecup told them he later found his mother having a seizure on the kitchen floor and then dragged her into a bedroom and put her into bed. He found her dead in the morning, police said.

Police say Wisecup did not call emergency services at any point. Instead, they say, he left her body in the bedroom for days while he went to a liquor store and to work.

Wisecup is being held in the Clark County Detention Center. He pleaded not guilty Wednesday to the charges.
