CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Political banners are causing a stir at one Clark County school.

Some parents are raising concerns after seeing pictures of the signs of several candidates inside Shearer Elementary School in Winchester.

Superintendent Paul Christy says he did not approve of the banners being in the hallway of the elementary school and he had them taken down immediately after finding out.

He says the banners were part of a PTO fundraiser for Shearer’s “fall festival” event Friday.

All local candidates had the opportunity to pay $150 to have their banner in the hallway for the annual event.

Christy says the PTO did not post the banners as endorsements.

They even put disclaimers on each one, saying every candidate had the chance to buy in.
