217 Strong Festival Honors Deputy Jaime Morales

GEORGETOWN, KY. (LEX 18) –  Support for injured Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy, Jaime Morales, continues.

Deputy Morales spoke for the first time at the 217 Strong Festival in Georgetown on Saturday. It was an event that brought together his favorite things.

“I want to thank everybody that came out here today to support me and my family it really means a lot,” said Morales.

Deputy Morales was shot while on duty in September, and much of his body was paralyzed. Since then, the community has come together time after time to support him.The 217 Strong Festival included a car show, rock music, and a 5k.

Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy John Bright, planned much of the festival.

“It’s definitely worth it all just to see him happy and have everybody come up to him and show the support, said Deputy Bright.

All proceeds from the festival will go to Deputy Morales and his family.
