LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man is in jail after he allegedly tried to carjack people using part of a gun in a restaurant parking lot.

It happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday night on Ky. 3 in Louisa.

Officials say 19-year-old Randel Boggs pointed what appeared to be a gun at victims and demanded they hand over their keys.

When police later found Boggs on foot, he allegedly pulled a shotgun barrel out of his pants before they arrested him.

Boggs is charged with first-degree robbery.

Officials say he is also wanted in West Virginia.
