BEREA, Ky. (LEX 18) – Berea police are warning about a “secret shopper” scam that they have received multiple reports on.
The scam is advertised on Facebook. The intended victims are then sent a letter and a check. They are instructed to deposit the check at their bank, then withdraw cash.
They are instucted to go to Walmart and purchase three blank money orders in different amounts. At some point, they are provided an address where they are supposed to send the money orders.
No legitimate survey will ever ask you to cash a check and send them money.
