BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A Lexington man pleaded guilty and was sentenced in a 2017 deadly DUI crash in Boyle County.

Joseph Kelly was under the influence while behind the wheel of a car that crashed into Linda Kay Gill’s car, killing her. The crash happened on Perryville Road in September 2017.

Linda Kay’s husband, Marvin Gill, has been in the courtroom every time Kelly has been in court.

It’s a feeling that, you can’t tell until you go through it. I’ve got to live with it,” said Marvin.

Thursday, Kelly took a plea deal and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Knowing that he could have killed himself or killed some innocent someone like he did, in my eyes, when you choose to do that, you’ve committed murder,” said Marvin.

Marvin said he believes 11 years is not near long enough for the loss of his wife, but he said it’s nice to have a little closure.

At least I know he’s getting some time out of it,” Marvin told LEX 18. “I could never replace her.”
