WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Wolfe County Search and Rescue were dispatched Sunday night to help find a group of hikers lost in the Red River Gorge.

WCSAR reports that they received a call for three female hikers lost on Swift Camp Creek Trail. Officials were able to make contact via cellphone with the group and walk them through getting a set of coordinates from their mobile device.

Rescuers say temperatures were low and the group was not dressed for the cold temperature.

A team was dispatched to Rock Bridge Trail Head and they quickly located the group. The team carried in wool blankets to warm up the group before making their way back to the trailhead.

The rescue team wants to remind you that if you are lost on a trail, it’s important to stay put so rescuers can get to you quickly.
