LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– After day one of the Big Blue Crush Blood Drive, Tennessee has a slight lead, 537 to 496.

“Tennessee won the football game Saturday, and they are out to beat Kentucky at the blood drive too, but we’re not going to let that happen,” said Martha Osborne, the Vice President of Marketing for the Kentucky Blood Center. “Blood donors are so generous. On a nasty weather day like today, hundreds came out to roll up their sleeves and save lives. We hope that dedication continues throughout the week.”

This is the 31st blood donation battle between KBC and the Medic Regional Blood Center in Knoxville. Kentucky has beaten Tennessee the past 8 years and leads the rivalry 17 to 12 with one tie.

If you donate, you will receive a tie-dyed Bleed Blue T-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Kentucky-Louisville football game on November 24 in Louisville.

Donors may give at any KBC mobile blood drive or donor center.
