Officials: Drug Usage Suspected Factor In Fatal Clay County Crash

CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A woman has died following a Tuesday evening crash in Clay County.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday on US 421 in front of the Save-A-Lot in the Garrard community.

Officials say that a  2000 Nissan Frontier, operated by Elsie M. Roberts, 46, of Manchester, was traveling southbound when she crossed the center-line of the highway and struck a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado head-on which was traveling northbound being operated by Bradley C. Ruth, 33, of Manchester.

Roberts was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead on the scene.  Ruth and his three passengers, who were also not wearing seatbelts, were transported to Manchester Memorial Hospital where they received treatment for their injuries.

Drug usage is suspected to be a factor in the collision.
