(LEX 18)– A student at Immanuel Christian Academy won Best In State in the National Bonnie Plants Third Grade Cabbage Program.
Avery Sluss grew a 10.3 pound cabbage and was selected by Kentucky’s Agriculture Department. She will receive a $1,000 savings bond towards education from Bonnie Plants.
A press release from Green Earth Media Group says that this year, more than one million third graders in the 48 contiguous states have gotten hands-on gardening experience growing cabbages with hopes of winning Best in State.
