LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The snow and the ice didn’t keep hundreds of Kentuckians from donating blood Thursday. Unfortunately, Tenessee donors are still ahead 2,455 to 2,076 in the 31st annual Big Blue Crush.

“Kentucky fans have a long tradition of saving the lives of local patients, and we appreciate that they are stepping up again this year, even during this early winter weather,” said Martha Osbourne, Vice President of Marketing for Kentucky Blood Center (KBC).

As a thank you, Kentucky donors will receive a tie-dyed Bleed Blue t-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Kentucky-Louisville football game on November 24 in Louisville.

Donors may give blood at any KBC mobile blood drive or KBC donor centers, which are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
