LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – It’s time for the fifth annual ‘A Coat To Keep The Cold Away’ Drive. The yearly coat drive benefits students in Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Devine Carama, a local hip-hop artist and founder of ‘Believing in Forever,’ has been very vocal and has had much success with the project. Last year, he stood out in the cold and rapped for 48 hours to bring attention to how many individuals don’t have proper winter weather gear.

Following the event, Carama was diagnosed with frostbite in two of his toes.

So far, the organization has received 2,000 requests from children in need.  The organization only accepts brand new coats or cash donates.
