BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– KSP responded to a fatal collision in Bullitt Co. Monday night.

KSP says they received the call around 8:47 p.m. that two semi-tractor trailers had collided on I-65 near the 106 mile marker in Bullitt County.

Their investigation revealed that 62-year-old Ejub Cavka, of Bowling Green,  was driving a 2003 Freightliner and was attempting to merge from the northbound emergency lane onto I-65. 46-year-old David Koch, of Hazel, was operating a 2018 Freightliner and was traveling in the northbound lane, according to KSP.

Cavka, while attempting to merge back onto I-65, pulled out into the path of Koch’s vehicle, according to KSP.

Koch was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cavka was transported to Jewish South Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision is still under investigation.
