LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A deputy is injured following a dispute with a suspect Tuesday morning.

Around 6:30 a.m., two deputies responded to an irate man standing in the road on Frontier Boulevard between Cannonade and Old Fort Road.

Deputies reportedly took up positions to keep the subject, Joshua Craig, contained as he was becoming aggressive and under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

Officials say Craig refused to comply with the deputies orders and a taser was deployed without effect. Baton strikes were also ineffective.

Deputies then went “hands on”, taking Craig to the ground. At one point during the confrontation Craig grabbed a Deputies maglight from his duty belt and attempted to bring it into the fight. Craig was brought under control and deputies called for EMS.

One deputy was treated and released for a soft tissue injury to the back of his hand.

Craig was treated for a laceration and methamphetamine intoxication.

He was lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail and charged with public intoxication, second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing, resisting arrest, and third-degree assault of a police officer.
