JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A standoff that began after a man fired two shots from a shotgun toward a woman ended peacefully Wednesday afternoon with a man in custody.

Police said 35-year-old John Winkle was arrested after a two-hour standoff.

Multiple law enforcement officials had surrounded a mobile home along Martin Drive off Tates Creek Road in Jessamine County.

Police said the incident began with Winkle and a woman arguing.

When the woman began to leave, police said, Winkle shot toward her twice with a shotgun, then holed up in a mobile home when police responded.

Law enforcement told LEX 18 that the residence was cleared of other people.

Officers were able to enter and take Winkle into custody.

Winkle is being charged with wanton endangerment. Other charges are likely, police said.
