HARRODSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) — It originally was thought that write-in candidate Art Freeman had lost the election for Harrodsburg mayor by four votes. This triggered a recanvass, and Freeman called for a recount.

The votes are being certified, but it seems that Freeman likely will be swapping his desk at the paint shop he owns for one occupied by incumbent Eddie Long.

“There were 105 ballots in the box that the machine wouldn’t recount because the box wasn’t checked,” said Freeman.

It’s a big win for the write-in candidate.

“The counting and recounting, and I’m happy to say that it looks like every vote counted, which is democracy at its finest,” said Tim Kazimer with the Kentucky Fudge Company.

Kazimer told LEX 18 that he was so confident that the recount will be officially certified, that he corrected a sign to say Freeman won.
