LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– A special-ed teacher in Louisville didn’t have to wait for Santa to have a Merry Christmas…

Her co-workers gave a her a big surprise gift, to make sure she doesn’t have to walk to work anymore.

Aileena Kennedy, known as ‘Smiles’ at the Heuser Hearing and Language Academy, walked to work each day until her coworkers found out.

First they started a mission to get Kennedy a bike – then they went a little bigger.

In a week, Smiles’ coworkers found a car, fixed it, and Monday morning, her trek to work got shorter, warmer and easier.

“I’m just real thankful just whatever, God bless me to be able to do, whatever he bless me with. I’m just happy. even my bike got stolen you know?”

Before she got the car, Kennedy had to take an hour-long trek to work each way.
