LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Catholic Action Center is in need of items for its Compassionate Caravan as cold temperatures continue.

“We’re on our 14th night of running the Caravan and normally we’d only have one or two before January,” said Catholic Action Center Director Ginny Ramsey.

The Compassionate Caravan offers warm clothes to people on the streets, as well as a ride back to the shelter for a warm place to stay.

“It’s definitely unusual, but we’re blessed to be able to be out there,” Ramsey said.

Based on weather reports, she expects the caravan will be out for most of this week. The Catholic Action Center is in need of coats, hats, blankets and sleeping bags, she said.

She’s also looking for donations of orange juice and bananas.
